Friendship Is Magic – Ystävyyden taikaa

A day filled with fun, frivolity and uncontrollable fits of laughter. A day to try a couple of things I had never done before. A day spent – who would believe – in Tampere, of all places, with my sister Spica and our as-close-as-a-sister -friend L.

Now I hope my neighbours won’t think ill of this, for Tampere is a town in central Finland often looked down upon by people living in my home city of Turku... So here’s to Tampere! And to us, the three Power Girls!

Sekoilua, sähläystä ja säännöllisesti toistuvia kikatuksen puuskia - niiltä ei voi välttyä, kun viettää päivän siskoni Spican ja parhaan lähes-adoptiosiskomme L:n kanssa. Kohteena kaikista mahdollisista paikoista tällä kertaa Tampere.

 Uhallakin - malja Tampereelle! Ja meidän tehotyttötiimille! Chin chin!

Look at all the things to see in Tampere! These eyeballs ogled us in the exhibition called Absolutely Abnormal at the Werstas Labour Museum.

Poetry for the Eye - and astonishment for the brain - was on offer for us in the Text Art exhibition at the TR1 Kunsthalle exhibiton centre located in an old factory building in Tampere. This was my first contact with visual poetry, a form of art that plays with words, letters, fonts and text. 

It was strange, just the way we like our experiences. Or what would you think about a piece of art that consisted of a bunch of ice hockey sticks covered by a helmet and enhanced with a continuous babble of a speech record? One can't describe it, really - it is something you need to sense for yourself!

Kulutimme tovin Tampereen TR1 Taidehallissa, jossa oli esillä visuaalisen runouden näyttely Text Art. Visuaalinen runous on näemmä leikittelyä sanoilla, kirjaimilla, kirjasinlajeilla ja tekstikatkelmilla. Sanomattakin selvää, että siitä ei voinut olla viehättymättä.

Word magnets allowed visitors to create their own visual poetry.

 

Kuinka kummaa, mikä tosin sopii meille mainiosti. Omituisin oli taideteos, joka koostui pystyyn tuetuista ja kypärällä kruunatuista jääkiekkomailoista sekä taustalla pölisevästä puheäänityksestä. Hermostuttavaa.
